How accurate is the miles calculator?
It shows published award chart rates (off-peak/saver) for each program. Actual cost depends on date, availability, and whether the airline uses dynamic pricing. Use live search for the real number.
Why do programs charge different amounts for the same route?
Each one builds its own chart — distance bands, zones, or dynamic pricing. ANA is often cheapest for business class to Japan. Avios crushes short-haul. Different rules, different sweet spots.
What are transfer partners and why do they matter?
Amex, Chase, and Capital One let you move points into many airline programs, often 1:1. If you don't have miles directly with an airline, transfer partners get you there.
Which program is the best value?
It depends on route and cabin. Transatlantic business: Virgin or ANA. Short-haul Europe: BA Avios. Use this calculator for your specific trip.
