How do you use KrisFlyer miles?
KrisFlyer miles book Singapore Airlines reward flights, which are priced from Singapore by destination zone on a published chart with Saver and Advantage levels. KrisFlyer does not add fuel surcharges to Singapore Airlines awards, so the miles price is close to the whole cost. The best-known sweet spots are business class from SIN to Cape Town (CPT) or Istanbul (IST) for 68,000 miles one way, and SIN to Newark (EWR) or New York JFK for 117,000. Book Saver level where you can, because Advantage often costs far more.

Mistakes to avoid
- Advantage level can cost much more than Saver: SIN-LHR business is 108,500 miles at Saver but 141,500 at Advantage.
- KrisFlyer miles expire 3 years after they are earned, so do not leave transferred or earned miles sitting for long.
- Award seats release about 355 days before departure, so search when that window opens to find Saver space.
- Transfers from Amex, Capital One, Chase and Citi go in at 1:1, so move points only once you have found a seat.
