MCP quickstart
Connect an MCP client in under a minute
142 tools at https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp, streamable HTTP transport. No API key — the client opens your browser to sign in with OAuth 2.1 + PKCE on first use, then it's done.
Claude Code
One command, no config file to hand-edit.
claude mcp add --transport http award-travel-finder https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp
Or install the free plugin, which does the same thing plus keeps itself updated:
/plugin marketplace add AwardTravelFinder/mcp
/plugin install award-travel-finder
Claude opens your browser on the first tool call to sign you in. No Authorization or X-API-Key header — the endpoint is OAuth-only and a leftover key header will get rejected.
Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop doesn't speak streamable HTTP natively yet, so bridge it with mcp-remote.
- Make sure Node.js is installed.
- Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config and add:
{
"mcpServers": {
"awardtravelfinder": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp"]
}
}
}
Restart Claude Desktop. It opens your browser to sign in — after you authorize, the tools show up in the tools menu.
Cursor
- Open Cursor Settings → MCP.
- Click + Add new global MCP server and paste:
{
"mcpServers": {
"awardtravelfinder": {
"url": "https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Cursor connects over streamable HTTP directly — no mcp-remote bridge needed. It opens your browser to sign in on first use.
ChatGPT & Codex
Award Travel Finder is in review for the OpenAI plugin directory shared by ChatGPT and Codex. Once that listing is live, connecting is a search-and-click from inside either client — no config file. In the meantime, ChatGPT's Custom GPT Actions can call the REST API directly; see the REST + MCP overview for the OpenAPI schema URL.
Any other client (mcp-remote)
Windsurf, Cline, or anything else that only speaks stdio: run the endpoint through the same bridge Claude Desktop uses.
npx -y mcp-remote https://mcp.awardtravelfinder.com/mcp
It opens a browser window to run the OAuth PKCE flow the first time, then caches the token locally. See the OAuth reference if you're wiring this up by hand instead.

Free tier facts
- No API key, ever — every client authenticates with OAuth 2.1 in the browser.
- Free accounts get 3 economy searches/day; no card required to sign up.
- All 142 tools are visible in
tools/listbefore you're even signed in — pricing, portfolio, and hotel tools included. Calling a tool that touches your account requires the OAuth step. - Premium and above raise the search cap and unlock every cabin; see the OAuth reference for exact call limits.
