IHG Status Match (2026)

IHG One Rewards

Verified October 13, 2026. Program terms change often, so confirm on the official page before you apply.

Short answer

No. IHG One Rewards has no standing status match for Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt elites. It sends targeted fast-track offers (register, then complete a set number of paid nights), and cards or the paid Ambassador membership are the reliable shortcuts.

This is an editorial guide to IHG One Rewards's match policy, not a tracked offer. We do not track a live end date for it.

IHG status match: what to know

As of October 2026, IHG publishes no hotel-to-hotel status match or public status challenge. Instead it runs fast-track promotions that are targeted to selected members: you register, complete a set number of qualifying paid nights by a deadline, and receive Gold, Platinum or Diamond Elite through the end of a later year. These appear in your IHG account or inbox and vary from member to member. If you need status on a specific trip, an IHG credit card or the paid InterContinental Ambassador membership are the dependable routes.

Region note: Fast-track offers and card terms differ by country. UK and international readers should check their own IHG account; IHG co-brand cards in the table above are US Chase products.

IHG One Rewards tiers

Tier What it means for a match
Silver Elite 10 nights a year. Granted by the no-fee IHG One Rewards credit card for as long as you hold it.
Gold Elite 20 nights or 40,000 points in a calendar year, according to AwardWallet's IHG guide. Granted by the IHG One Rewards Premier card for new accounts opened from October 1, 2026.
Platinum Elite 40 nights or 60,000 points in a calendar year. Granted by the IHG One Rewards Premier Select and Business cards, and by the paid InterContinental Ambassador membership.
Diamond Elite 70 nights or 120,000 points in a calendar year. The top tier is earned or reached through a targeted fast track, not through a public match.

Which status can you match from?

  • No public match from Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt or any other hotel programme
  • Targeted fast-track offers (to Gold, Platinum or Diamond) sent to selected IHG members; the 2026 round reported eligibility through December 31, 2026

How to apply

Step by step for a IHG status match

  1. 1

Log in to your IHG One Rewards account and check the offers section and your email for a fast-track or status offer. If you see one, register for it before booking.

  2. 2

Complete the required number of qualifying paid nights by the offer deadline. Offers usually exclude award stays and require a minimum nightly rate (AwardWallet reports roughly $30 before taxes and fees).

  3. 3

If no offer appears, choose a card (Premier Select or Business for Platinum Elite) or pay for the InterContinental Ambassador membership, which gives Platinum Elite.

  4. 4

You can also email or call IHG One Rewards with proof of competitor status, but IHG has no public process for it and an approval is not guaranteed.

Requirements and limits

  • An IHG One Rewards account (membership is free).
  • For fast-track offers: eligibility is by invitation or targeting, you must register first, and stays must be paid and above any minimum nightly rate in the terms.
  • For the Ambassador route: a one-year membership, reported by AwardWallet at $225 or 45,000 IHG points.

Tips to get approved

  • IHG credit card terms changed on October 1, 2026. New accounts get Silver (no-fee card), Gold (Premier), or Platinum (Premier Select and Business) along with annual elite night credits, and existing Premier cardholders were reported to keep Platinum through December 31, 2027.
  • Stay promotions usually exclude award nights, so book a paid rate if you are racing a deadline.
  • Offers often appear in the last quarter of the calendar year; check the account again before December rather than assuming you are not targeted.
  • If what you want is any hotel status for a trip, Hilton Honors is more likely than IHG to accept a Marriott or Hyatt match.

IHG status challenge: not available

IHG does not run a public status challenge. It sends targeted fast-track offers that require registration and a set number of paid nights, for example in 2026 a fast track to Gold (two nights) and Platinum (more nights) for registered members, reported through December 31, 2026. Whether you are eligible depends on your account.

See the status challenge hub for programs that let you earn status on a trial basis.

Alternatives to a IHG status match

Premier Select or Business card for Platinum

As of the October 2026 refresh, the Premier Select and Business cards grant Platinum Elite while the card is open, and the Premier gives Gold Elite plus annual elite night credits.

InterContinental Ambassador

A paid one-year membership that grants Platinum Elite. AwardWallet reports the price as $225 or 45,000 points.

Ask a hotel programme that publishes a match

Hilton Honors runs a match for other hotel elites. It is a better first ask than IHG, which only sends targeted offers.
